Elementary Education

An elementary school teacher is the first person a child will meet during their time at school who will help them to grow and develop. Certainly being a teacher at an elementary school can be not only fun but also extremely challenging as well. It is at this crucial stage of a child's development that you as their teacher will be acting as not only a role model but their mentor as well. You, along with their parents, are one of the adults that they will look up to and begin to respect as well turn to in times of trouble.

It is you as an elementary school teacher who will play a part in developing a young person both academically and socially to ensure that they reach their goals. It is you who will help them navigate their way around the world of integrating and socializing with others as well as laying the foundation stone which will help them succeed further on in their education and later on when they start work.

Often as a teacher of elementary school children, a person will be instructing their students in various different subjects. In some schools, the teachers may actually work in teams and so become jointly responsible for the education of the children within their school. There are even some elementary school teachers who will provide lessons on a special subject such as Art, Music, Reading, Science, Math's or PE (Physical Education). These teachers will provide the lessons for the various grades in the school and so will be relied on to teach more than one class.

In order for a person to become an elementary school teacher they need the following educational requirements. For every state, each teacher will need to have a minimum level of education as well as having teaching licenses and certifications according to State and, in some cases, Federal Regulations. Certainly having a master's degree would be extremely useful and this is actually a requirement in certain states. Plus for many elementary school teachers to receive tenure at a school, they must carry on their education as well.

For a person to gain their elementary school teacher degree, they must learn about elementary mathematics, general psychology, early reading, and all about various issues relating to technology in the classroom. They will also need to learn about compositional techniques which can then be used for teaching young children and finally about group format education.
