3 Art Education Themes Elementary Teachers Can Use

There are a number of different art education themes elementary school teachers can use in order to encourage their children to enjoy this particular subject during their first years at school.

Something all elementary school teachers soon discover is that children love their art lessons. This simply is because it provides them time to be a little bit more creative and the lesson is actually much less structured compared to the other classes that they take part in. Also it provides each one of them with a chance to make a reasonable amount of mess without actually getting in trouble for it. It's great that teachers are making use of the kids' enthusiasm during these lessons in order to make it as much fun as possible for everyone concerned. Below we will take a look at various themes a teacher can consider using during their art lessons.

One of the first things a teacher can possibly consider doing is just putting out the paints and coloring equipment along with various different tools (such as paint brushes, rollers and cotton balls). Then allow each child within the classroom to provide a creation which helps to describe how they see a person, say someone who is sitting opposite them.

Another great idea to use when having an art lesson is for an elementary school teacher to make the students produce a collage. It is important with this particular lesson that the teacher gets the children to bring in old newspapers, magazines and books (be very clear to the parents in a note that these will be torn up and cut up) for using during the making of their collage. This will mean that they have a large selection of materials to use. It is important that when the students are creating a collage they choose a particular theme to work on. It could be sports or animal orientated for example.

Another theme a teacher may want to consider for their art lessons will be based around the students learning about various different famous artists. At the beginning of the lesson the teacher can teach them about a certain artist and provide them with examples of their work. Then as part of the lesson each student can be asked to produce their own piece of artwork that is created in the same style as the artist that they have been learning about. For the older elementary school students this particular type of art lesson will help them to appreciate art more fully and in a whole new way.

Certainly when it comes to art education themes elementary school teachers are not just restricted to the more traditional forms of art work. In fact today they can now begin to encourage their student’s creativity through the use of other mediums such as computers.
